Storyboarding Assignment

Create a storyboard for an original short animation
Form yourselves into groups of 3. Think of a scenario or a gag. It should be short sequence of actions, not long-winded story. Your scenario should evolve around 2 characters max, preferably human-like characters (Example, Police and Thief, Boy and Girl, etc.) or you could also have 1 character interacting with an object or animal (Example, Boy and his pet, Man with his computer, etc.) Try to come out with ideas that are interesting, clever, and funny but limit your story ideas/actions to a 1 minute animation.

Things to deliver for this assignment
1. A short paragraph of your scenario/gag (typed in A4)
2. Sketches of your characters
3. Background designs
4. Storyboard of your scenario/gag - (individual work)
All drawings must be done on A4 paper.

Timeline for this assignment:
Week 1 (12 Oct to 16 Oct) - Approve your group idea, character(s) and background designs.
Week 2 (19 Oct to 23 Oct) - Complete and submit items no.1 to no.4 for review.
Week 3 (26 Oct to 30 Oct) - Refinement and final submission of your individual storyboard.

Welcome back to school. It's good to see everyone back here again....
This term is going to be quite hectic so please prepare urself... Mentally and Physically as well. :)

This is what we are going to be doing this week for DMI....


1) Research: Surf the web (I know all of you like to do this :P) and gather these information....

a) Portfolio Websites

- Note the web address

- Take note of design concept of website, as well as contents

- Take note of how they separate the contents

- The website's navigation

- Other interesting features of the website.

- Be prepared to share with the class next DMI lesson....


b) Find out the difference between HTML website and FLASH website.

- Advantages and disadvantages of HTML website

- Advantages and disadvantages of FLASH website

2) Collate and scan all your artworks

- Drawings, artworks, digital works etc etc etc…..

- You have the whole of this week to do this.....
